Rethink what you eat at every meal. Healthy eating is not just a fad. Protein, fruit, and vegetables are actually good for you. You have to make a conscious decision about what you choose to eat. One of the best ways towards healthy skin is practicing better eating habits. Choose to eat more fruit and vegetables. Grapefruit is a great way to increase your metabolism. Blueberries are a great antioxidant. Remember when your Mom told you to "eat your vegetables" ? There was a good reason for that. Vegetables are a natural source of vitamins. So, the next time you reach for that bag of chips, stop yourself and choose something good for you instead. Force yourself to relax one hour a day. Start by sitting down and making a list of ways you can relax. Keep the list to refer back to it and remind yourself to make this part of your day. Idea starters include: soaking in a hot tub with aromatics, sign up for a Yoga class and learn how to find your Zen, read your favorite magazine and try one of the recipes in it, start that book you have been putting off, or put those photos you still have in envelopes into an actual album. When you clear your mind of all the things you have to do, it helps you refocus and find your sense of calm again. Worry leads to stress. Stress leads to unhealthy choices. Drink more water. Then drink some more. Water solves many problems naturally. It helps replenish very necessary hydration in your body. It helps cleanse your body of toxins, it helps your vital organs function more efficiently, and it helps the health of your skin and hair. Next time you reach for that soda, or that cup of coffee, or your favorite adult recreational beverage, stop yourself and choose water. Get more sleep. Sleep is that blissful place you go to turn off. Sleep is just as important as exercise. An average person needs eight hours of sleep a day. And in this world of multimedia emails, Blackberries, bills to pay, dance recitals to attend, sports teams to carpool, you need your sleep. It helps you to distress, it helps to diminish dark circles under your eyes, and it helps your temperament. A good night's sleep can do a world of good for your healthy body and skin. Exercise two to three times a week. Yes, it's true. You need to exercise. It increases your metabolic rate. It helps your heart. It helps your weight loss program. It helps you tone your muscles. But even more importantly, the natural endorphins from exercise will help you feel better. And, you don't always have to go "work out". A simple walk around the block is better than no exercise at all. Remember to feed your spirit. This is a very important part of anyone's beauty regime. Embracing your spiritual being from within helps you to see things in a different light. Doing good for someone else makes you feel better. Going to church gives you a new perspective. Reading a spiritual book helps you to refocus your priorities. If you have been thinking about volunteering for a charity, now is a great time to start. Inner beauty is just as uplifting as outer beauty. A blending of all of the above will help improve your way of thinking about yourself. Making better choices about what you feed into your body and soul will help you gain such a better perspective. Living a balanced life will make a difference in how you feel.
