This year, Mom deserves a token of your appreciation in a creative way. After all, who taught you how to laugh, how to sing, how to think positive, and how to love? Moms are so underappreciated, really. They always got you to where you needed to be, on time with the right thing to wear. They always washed your clothes at the last minute, helped you with your Science project, cheered for you at your games. They cooked for you, they sewed for
you, they waited on you when you were sick. They always knew the right thing to say to make you feel better. And somehow, they were always right. Their wisdom, their advice, their willingness to do just about anything for you. No one else has taken that spot. No one ever could. So this year, think creatively. Think outside the box. What can you do for her that makes a special statement, that thanks her for all she did and continues to do. Here are some creative suggestions for gift giving this year:
- Consider a bouquet of flowers that gives back to a charity.
- Give a gift certificate to a spa for a nice massage or a pedicure.
- Send her a book that has special meaning to you and her. (Maybe something she read to you at Bedtime, or something she taught you that you have never forgotten.)
- Package up a Aromatherapy set of candles, bath salts, and perfume for a relaxing bath. Include a sound machine, a plush bathrobe, or a foot massage tub.
- Put together a photo album of shots of you as young kid mixed with shots of your kids having fun, making memories.
- Send her a subscription to a magazine she would really enjoy.
- Subscribe to a monthly delivery of fruit from Harry and David. (Something healthy is always a welcome surprise each month.)
- Make a donation to her church or favorite charity in her name.
- Take her to lunch and enjoy a day at the museum with her.
- Send her a letter every day of the week leading up to Mother's Day.
- Take her a Girl's Night Out movie.
- Redeem your hotel points so that she and Dad can have a special night together at a boutique hotel in her city.
- Burn a special CD of music that has meaning to her from iTunes. Hand make a CD cover of photos from you, when you were young, your siblings, your kids.
- Spend time with her.
- Above all else, call her on Mother's Day and thank her for being such a special part of your life.
Mothers hold a unique place in your inner most being. Her character shines within you. She has colored your soul with her beauty. She will always be in your heart. How often do you get a chance to reflect back on how much they mean to you?
